Truck No. 22 – 1968 Ward LaFrance Pumper – 1,500 gpm capacity from hydrant, 500 gal. booster tank. This truck was dedicated to Clive C. Lyons. Clive worked very hard at selecting the truck and equipment to be included on the truck. He visited factories that constructed fire trucks and oversaw the making of this truck.

Clive died in April, 1968 before Kearsarge was able to take delivery of the truck on June 30, 1968. Mounted on the side of the truck was a plaque dedicating the truck to the memory of Chief Clive C. Lyons.

Delivery of this truck was taken on June 30, 1968. On Monday, July 1, 1968, Sandra (Lyons) and Sam Ferraro noticed that the new truck was at the fire house and they stopped to see it. On Tuesday, July 2, 1968, Bob Nelson took Ruth Lyons over to see the new fire truck and the large memorial plaque made and hanging on the wall in the fire hall. Ruth’s response to the new truck was, “It’s a beauty.”

JSLopez note: Clive Clinton Lyons was a charter member and the first fire chief of Kearsarge Fire Department, and my grandfather. He passed away on April 6, 1968, the day before my tenth birthday.
